Early Life and Career
Timothy James Walz was born on April 6, 1964, in Red Wing, Minnesota. After completing his education, he worked as a schoolteacher and later joined the U.S. Army National Guard.
Political Career
Walz began his political career in 2006 when he was elected to the Minnesota House of Representatives. He served as a state legislator for six years, focusing on education and veterans' issues.
In 2012, Walz was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives, representing Minnesota's 1st Congressional District. During his time in Congress, he worked on veterans' health care, infrastructure, and agricultural policy.
Governorship
In 2018, Walz announced his candidacy for Governor of Minnesota. He won the election and took office as the 41st Governor of Minnesota in January 2019. As Governor, Walz has focused on education, healthcare, and economic development.
